Aloha Writers

Aloha Writers: "In an article directory, essentially you put forth copyrighted free standing samples of your work. This could be a first chapter, a segment of a story, that you choose. It is an especially valuable way to reinstate material languishing in the closet, unseen, and lost forever. Unless you free it and edit it for the world to see. The important part is that each article must stand alone, and by itself. You can upload a series, if the parts are clearly labeled: Part 1, Part 2, etc. Your article becomes part of the public domain available for anyone to use as long as they give you copyright credit and linked attributions."...(Click title link to see entire article.)...

Writer's Comfort and Work

Writer's Comfort and Work: "If you've read some of my other articles, it might be possible to think that I am not aware of an author's need for physical comfort. Comfort at your workstation, or office. Don't mistake, I do stress using your time efficiently. Using 'waste' time. Using 'down' time. Using 'dead' time. Writer's do not need any additional excuses to 'kill' time. We are already too, too efficient at that already. I think all of us can agree to that."...(Click on title link to see entire article.)...

George and Tony Admit to "Some Mistakes"

George and Tony Admit to "Some Mistakes": You and your fellow travelers admit to "some mistakes" and keep pointing to the "positive results" as if that was sufficient excuse for your own undisciplined, bullying, and morally unacceptable behaviors. It is as if you want and expect people to love you and trust you. Why in God's name should they? You are not deserving of trust. Any trust and goodwill that you may have accrued in the past is long gone. It will take many years to regain it to the same degree that formerly existed."...(Click on title link to see entire article.)...

Ten Steps to Success in Life

Ten Steps to Success in Life: "What does it take to live a "good life"? What is expected of us as individuals? The answer unfolds from the survival imperative: the requirements are:

(a) clear perception: to see things as they are, to separate the real from unreal.

(b) honest appraisal: no overstatement, or estimation of your own abilities in a situation where you make decisions."...(Click title link to see entire article.)...

George W. Bush: Only 971 Days Left: It is barely enough time to finish the job.

George W. Bush: Only 971 Days Left: It is barely enough time to finish the job.: "There are only 971 days left to painfully endure before the incompetent administration of the George W. Bush Presidency comes to a lingering, crawling, whimpering, and unbeloved close.

How much bigger will our national debt grow to further destroy the futures of our children and grandchildren? If we were building roads, highways, bridges, high speed rail commuter systems, wind farms, solar farms, a national health care system that works efficiently and cost effectively, a decent national school and training system for the 22nd Century, or even, God help me, nuclear power plants, that kind of debt at least makes sense. From a surplus to nine trillions of debt in five years. Even Caligula and Nero didn't do that."...(Click title link to see entire article.)...

After A Drought Comes the Rains

After A Drought Comes the Rains: "Just before my senior year I high school, my parents moved to Southern California, into the LA basin area. During the settling in period, they rented a cottage in Lawndale, and when they felt more economically secure they bought a small home in northern Torrance, not far from the refinery. That was the beginning of my seven year drought, a time period when I did not have a dog in my life. "...(Click title link to see entire article.)...

Protecting Your Child from Bullies

Protecting Your Child from Bullies: "The Littleton, Colorado massacre was a wakeup call on two major
subjects: school violence and bullies.

· The violence was splashed over our media channels for weeks.

· What drove those young men to their terrifying deeds was a desire for revenge: for years of bullying suffered at the hands of those they targeted and tried to kill.

· This is hardly 'just kids being kids.'

· Many similar school tragedies in recent years have had the same root cause.

· In more ways than one, bullies, are a danger to your child. "...(Click on title link to see entire article.)...

A Must See Movie for All Writers

If you even think that you might consider yourself as a writer, then you will definitely enjoy this movie: "Shadows In The Sun" with Harvey Keitel. Written and directed by Brad Mirman this film is entertaining, has a neat love story, and transpires against a backdrop of northern Italy. The film is worth watching for the scenery alone, and when you add the benefits of the acting and the story line, then it becomes a "must see" film for writers of all venues.

Few films "grab" me. This one does. I want to own a copy. I want to see it again and again. Just sitting in front of the 'tube' with this DVD in the player, ideas start to pop up in my head like popcorn in a microwave.

Reducing Churn for Writers and Other Professionals

Reducing Churn for Writers and Other Professionals: "All of our lives contain what my father called "churn". Churn is any and all activities which may, but more often do not, support our main life, work, or professional objective. Churn has as its net effect the taking away of time from that main principal activity. Some parts of churn are necessary: sleeping, eating, personal care and maintenance, interactions with others, paying bills, meetings, doctor's appointments, and keeping informed. All of these are examples of churn. Some bits of churn are readily transferred into massive, meaningless, debilitating, mind numbing "activities". "...(Click title link to see entire article.)...

Are There Any Good People Left in South Dakota?

Are There Any Good People Left in South Dakota?: "I just read the horrific news. Abortion ban passed in South Dakota. Are there any good people left in South Dakota? If there are, let us help them leave. Let us begin by encouraging them to move somewhere else. Let us begin by encouraging every woman in the state to simply leave and not return. Not ever. Get on a bus and go in any direction. Drive in any direction. If your husband loves you, he will follow." ...(Click on the title to read entire article.)...

You Are Alone

You Are Alone: "You are responsible for your own personal, mature relationship with God. In other words, you must put aside the fairy tale of God hovering somewhere above your shoulder.

Put aside the idea of a warm, fuzzy, loving, constantly observing God. Put aside the idea of a constantly guiding God. Put aside the idea of a constantly directing God.

Put aside the idea of a bribable, appeasable God. Put aside the idea of a capricious and constantly meddling God. A God that will save you from yourself. A God that will save you from current events. "...(Click the title to read entire article.)...

Please, Just Call Me a Pagan

Please, Just Call Me a Pagan: "I've been doing some serious thinking lately. I am very concerned with the paths all too many "Christian" leaders are obviously following. From my perspective, many of these purported "Christian" "leaders" are in fact false Christians. Their public statements, actions and activities have little or nothing to do with the message from Christ I read in the Gospels of the Disciples. Sitting in the parking lot at Wal-Mart® and writing on a Kleenex® box

Sitting in the parking lot at Wal-Mart® and writing on a Kleenex® box: "I'm tone deaf, can't sing, and couldn't carry a note with a tin bucket.
Nor, am I any kind of poet, but words - those I can string together . . .
Then I change and exchange 'til they seem to fit in some sensible fashion.
I hope you enjoy my latest effort, all from my very recent experiences and quickly created while waiting for my wife to do her emergency shopping, and writing in desperation on the side and bottom of a Kleenex® box.

And what's my point? Simple. Writers write. Write about what you see. Write your interpretation, or your personal vision. And don't forget to have something else to write on besides a nearly empty box of Kleenex®. 05/09/06"...(Click on the title to read the entire article.)...

How to Write Better Titles: Add Bees, Bears, Honey, Sex & Flowers

How to Write Better Titles: Add Bees, Bears, Honey, Sex & Flowers: "My standard practice when writing an article is to begin with a template. The first space is Titles: I try to start with some basic boring title. Here is my list for this article: in reverse order. When the article is complete, then the agony comes from making a choice." ...(Click on title above to read entire article)...

Mudbug Politicians & Getting Cheap Gas Again

Mudbug Politicians & Getting Cheap Gas Again: "No one enjoys high priced gasoline. Today (4/28/06) self-serve regular was $3.50 at the station where I regularly fill up. I am not a holier than thou, look at me and do as I do. I drive a wonderfully fine example of a gigantic, bloated Detroit pig iron. But if the price of gas stays high, my next vehicle will be fuel efficient. I'd rather not as I do like the comfort, the ride, the "power everything" road hog beast that my lending institution and I jointly own today. However, I do also know that there are autos on the market today that get 50+ mpg and I'll buy one if the price of gas stays high.

Today's paper reported that the same gas was over $6 in London, UK. The Brits have a national energy policy. Most European nations have had a national energy policy for three decades. Because they have such a policy, they also have mass transit systems that work to get people to work, school, shopping, and back home at night. They have fuel efficient vehicles. They work seriously at energy conservation. They are already commercially developing alternative energy sources of wind, hydro, tides, solar, bio-mass, and nuclear. They are way, way ahead of us." ...(Click on title link above to read entire article) ...
